The Batman has returned after a 10-year absence. The Gotham authorities want to arrest him. An old foe wants a reunion. The Feds want the Man of Tomorrow to put a stop to him.

I just recently watched 'Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1' which was actually better than 'The Dark Night Rises' in my opinion. Peter Weller really nailed the part of Bruce Wayne and I don't know if it was because he was famous for Robocop but he was a natural. In 'Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2' he now has Superman to contend with which made for perhaps a more exciting story but not as good as Part 1. The thing that made Part 1 great was the fact that Jay Oliva captured the feeling of Gotham brilliantly and is the perfect setting for Batman but in this that feeling is lost. Also, while Part 1 felt more like an adult animation this one, while still awesome is a bit more kid friendly but that's not a bad thing. I loved The Joker and he was played well by Michael Emerson (Saw). I wish Robin had a bit more to do in this because what little we saw of her back story in Part 1 was really interesting and could have been fleshed out more in this. Still, this is only a minor issue. Well, this completes Frank Miller's amazing version of Batman and I hope there's more in the works because I am now hooked on these animated features. 'Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1' is a bit better than Part 2 but only just. A must for Batman fans. Highly Recommended. Score: 8.5/10
